Ampeg 1966 Vintage B-15N-F  “Portaflex” 30 Watt Bass Amplifier

For sale is an excellent condition Ampeg “Portaflex” B-15N-F 30 watt bass guitar amplifier with Ampeg’s iconic light-up Plexiglass logo plate mounted to the tube cage. This flip-top is in truly amazing condition.  The “F” designation refers to the increase in output to 30 watts.

The tubes are all vintage USA as shown on the original schematic which is attached inside the amp. The Preamp tubes are screened “Ampeg/Sylvania USA” as was common for this era.  The 6L6GC output tubes are original Sylvania USA as is the RCA USA 5AR4 rectifier tube.  The electrolytics, transformers and all other electrical components are believed to be original (see photos) as is the power cord.  The 15” speaker is original CTS 137-628 “square magnet” manufactured the same year, in 1966.  The vintage “Blue Checkerboard” tolex is all original and in good condition except for tears on the underside, the grill cloth is torn and has a  faint stain. The panel-mount 4 pin XLR speaker connector on the side of the cabinet has been replaced with an original Switchcraft C4M.  The chrome raised Ampeg logo is original and in good condition, as are the internal metal parts and chassis.  The knobs are original “round chicken head” style.  The handle is a faithful reproduction of the original, navy leather with white stitching.  

The amp is in good working order and sounds amazing.  Ampeg B15N’s are the Holy Grail of classic bass amps and are found in countless recording studios for a reason.
