Gibson ES-330 TDC Electric Acoustic Guitar - 1961-62
S/N - 43130
Made by Gibson Guitar Co. in Kalamazoo, MI in 1961 or the very first weeks of 1962. The features indicate 1961, however some authorities say the serial number indicates early ’62.
The guitar is loaded with character. None of the imperfections are from misuse, but rather from serious use by a performer. The overall patina is awesome, like a relic, down to the worn P-90 neck pickup cover. The body is a deep cherry red, however the top is burl maple which I have never seen before and adds to its character. Typically these guitars are maple plywood and devoid of character as are the famous ES-335’s. The body is fully hollow and has larger “Mickey Mouse ears” cutaways and it is the last of the dot neck fingerboards. The body is fully hollow and the neck joins at the 15th fret. The frets are in excellent condition as is the fingerboard, which does not exhibit the ruts so often found on many guitars. The pickups are original black P-90’s as are the controls which have the vintage black “bonnet” knobs with silver disc centers. The hardware is all nickel and the case is the original brown Lifton case, in good working order.
The tuners were replaced with Kluson Gibson Deluxe with “keystone” knobs, vintage 1969. The bridge has been replaced with a “TonePro” tun-o-matic in nickel and the neck has been refinished. The guitar is otherwise believed to be all original. The guitar has been professionally setup in our shop.
